The Hyperborean Core, Mercator's Map, and the Great Bear

Hyperborea is an all encompassing, luminous kingdom in the boreal forest beyond the North Wind. It’s located at the mystical and magical Northernmost Seat, the axis point where the four ages revolve.

After world war 2, many parts of Europe had been flattened with millions of innocent lives extinguished. The American System chose to back communism in this destructive conflict and the western world has been gaslit by post war propaganda ever since. While I won't get too into alternative WW2 history here, i’d like instead to focus on the central myth of Hyperborea which was largely censored and erased in it’s wake.. 

Since we know that finding the center both personally and collectively is an essential meme in understanding human life, it’s far more important than politics. As long as we comprehend that everything after world war 2 is pure stage magic, propaganda and confusing Iron Age Illusion we’re in a good place to understand the crucial Hyperborean Core. 

Additional homework includes understanding the Olympian or Heroic cycle which can be distilled into 5 simple steps; 

1. The Gods of the Golden Age rule from a heavenly solar realm.

2. The Goddesses of the Silver Age rule from a moonlit, matriarchal, lunar realm.

3. Both Solar Gods and Lunar Goddesses descend into matter and are ruled by Titans in the Bronze Age.

4. Titans are defeated by “the shining ones”  who are then driven underground, beginning the Iron Age of savage deception and warfare.

5. Gods reemerge to restore order and claim victory over chaos.

So, at step 4, when the Gods or shining ones retreat after battle with the titans, they complete their descent from heavenly and celestial bodies to the underworld as humans grapple with the Promethean fire on the surface or “Midgard”. Many different traditions describe this subterranean healing ground; Kalki waits in Shambala, Tuatha De Dannan in Avalon, Mayans in Xibalba, Kronos in Tartarus.

All these myths describe the same restorative hibernation place, where thousands of years can pass in an instant before the gods emerge recovered from a fantastical underworld to erase darkness and false light with virile, heavenly rays.

“Among the many designations of the Hyperborean center that came to be applied also to the Atlantic center was Thule, or “White Island”, or “Island of Splendor”; and “Land of the Sun” or “Land of Apollo”, that is Avalon. Concordant memories in all Indo-European traditions talk about the disappearance of such a seat(which later on was mythologized) following an Ice Age or a flood. This is the real, historical counterpart of the various allusions to something that, beginning with a given period, has allegedly been lost or become hidden and untraceable.” - Julius Evola, “The Mystery of the Grail”

Evola suggests that this Northern Seat or “Hyperborean Theme” is both a physical and metaphysical location which is replicated in various peoples’ myths after it’s disappearance during an Ice Age. Interestingly enough, Gerard Mercator, the cartographer who designed the globe which was smacked around in most of our classrooms growing up, drew a detailed map of this most mysterious Arctic land.

According to wikipedia, “Our survey of this map must naturally being with the North Pole itself which Mercator envisions as a large black rock, the Rupes Nigra , surrounded by a great whirlpool into which four powerful rapid rivers flow. These rivers divide a massive continent sized landmass into four distinct islands or countries. When the English polymath John Dee wrote to Mercator asking about his sources for this map, Mercator returned the following letter which survives in his own hand: In the midst of the four countries is a Whirl-pool, into which there empty these four indrawing Seas which divide the North. And the water rushes round and descends into the Earth just as if one were pouring it through a filter funnel. It is four degrees wide on every side of the Pole, that is to say eight degrees altogether. Except that right under the Pole there lies a bare Rock in the midst of the Sea. Its circumference is almost 33 French miles, and it is all of magnetic Stone.”

Mercators explanation of the “Rupes NIgra” or Black Rock introduces us to the Oomphalos or Navel stone marking the center of a sacred land. In this case, it’s the magnetic rock which the four rivers flow under, forming a toroidal energy vortex as the world turns on it’s axis.

Wikipedia continues: “Regardless of the attribution of Mercator's sources, the idea of the Arctic being divided into four lands surrounding a black magnetic rock was, even in the 16th century, not new. Variants on the magnetic rock them, the Rupes Nigra , can be found in such esteemed references such as the texts of Ptolemy….”

The 1606 Mercator Hondius Map of the Arctic appears to have carried on the remnant legacies of many curiously absent lands which tie together western metaphysical traditions with physical far-northern lands. Today, of course, these now completely mythologized territories are obscured under hundreds of feet of ice sheets after the great flood which likely happened over 6,000 years ago.

Additional clues left on many ancient maps show Hyperborea referred to as ”Septentrionalis” which when translated in post modern AI speak means  "Marine map and description of the Northern lands". However, if we simply look at the the definition and etymology of the word, the submerged lore of our people rears it’s luminous head once again;

“Septentrional, meaning "of the north", is a Latinate adjective sometimes used in English. It is a form of the Latin noun septentriones, which refers to the seven stars of the Plough (Big Dipper), occasionally called the Septentrion.”

The Oxford English Dictionary gives the etymology of septentrional as:

[ad. L. septentrio, sing. of septentriōnēs, orig. septem triōnēs, the seven stars of the constellation of the Great Bear, f. septem seven + triōnes, pl. of trio plough-ox. Cf. F. septentrion.]^[2]

"Septentrional" is more or less synonymous with the term "boreal", derived from Boreas, a Greek god of the North Wind. The constellation Ursa Major, containing the Big Dipper, or Plough, dominates the skies of the North. The usual antonym for septentrional is the term meridional, which refers to the noonday sun.

So, the Hyperborean land of the northern most seat is synonymous with the Arctic energy center where four oceanic streams empty into an abyss under a colossal black rock. The skies above the North Pole also align with the centering constellation Ursa Major and Minor which display compass like properties as they shift through the four seasons like a plough around the polestar. It’s precession forms a swastika, the universal symbol of the center used by many indigenous peoples around the world, including proto- European and Celtic tribes. The upper world acts as a cosmic mirror of the lower and seekers have navigated their way to the North by following the northern lights and the turning of the Great Bear for thousands of years.

Ursa major forms an outer windmill whilst ursa minor spins like an inner propeller creating a celestial vortex. Each is composed of 7 stars which rotate around the current pole star Polaris. This energetic whirlpool shoots down into the north pole like a funnel feeding celestial energy from the upperworld to earths magnetic center. The North Pole, turning on its axis, amplifies this confluence of energy, siphoning it down into the apple core-like field of inner earth then spitting it out at the south pole where it works it’s way back around.

Perceiving the Earth as a toroidal field where cosmic, astral and etheric energy enters through Hyperborea can help explain the mythology of a mystical northern progenitor race which disperses from the central axis.. 

“  Now that river, rising from the ends of the earth, where are the portals and mansions of Nyx (Night), on one side bursts forth upon the beach of Okeanos (Oceanus), at another pours into the Ionian sea, and on the third through seven mouths sends its stream to the Sardinian sea and its limitless bay. And from Rhodanos they entered stormy lakes, which spread throughout the Celtic mainland of wondrous size; and there they would have met with an inglorious calamity; for a certain branch of the river was bearing them towards a gulf of Okeanos."

[N.B. The Hyperborean river Eridanos flowed directly from the earth-encircling, fresh-water Okeanos-stream.] - Apollonius Rhodius, Argonautica 4. 594 ff :

This leads me to speculate that the North Pole, or supreme northern center of the earth, is a giant power plant who’s cosmic and earthly energy sources have either lost their virility in our current epoch or are hidden from the awareness of the “species with amnesia” while buried under titanic ice sheets. Just like the gods incubating in inner earth during stage 4 of the heroic cycle.

Interestingly, Rudolph Steiner describes the Hyperborean Epoch as a step in the evolution of man from an astral, vaporous, and steam like state to the material meat bags we are today. Stainer wrote, “The soul or astral ancestors of man were transported to the refined etheric earth. So to speak, they sucked the refined substance into themselves like a sponge, to speak coarsely. By this becoming penetrated with substance, they developed etheric bodies. These had elongated elliptical form, in which the limbs and other organs which were to be formed later were already indicated by delicate shadings of the substance. All processes in this mass were purely physical-chemical, but they were regulated and dominated by the soul.” 

While the idea of man forming from cosmic, soul imprinted vapour may seem far fetched, some legendary accounts of Hyperborea describe a mystical, atmospheric land which is formative in nature. It’s both arctic and luminous yet bathed in generative Apollonian light. If we further consider the celestial energy vortex concept shared above, we find common threads among the mythological, astronomical and spiritual scientific ideas.

In conclusion, I leave you with these tasty Hyperborean nuggets.

1. Hyperborea is a port of entry for cosmic, astral and etheric energy.which is siphoned from the cosmos by the vortex generated by Ursa Major and Minor turning around the pole star, Polaris. 

2. The possibly mythological magnetic Rupas Nigra rock as mapped by Mercator is the sacred rock marking center of the Northern Polar Kingdom. Around it’s central axis, 4 islands form an earthly compass or “solar cross” separated by oceanic streams which empty into inner earth under the colossal black rock. 

3. The heavens are quite literally brought down to Earth at the North Pole where the upper world, middle earth and the underworld find their common core. All the elements of a northern creation myth are centered at this Hyperborean seat, including multiple references to the “Septentrionalus” or 7 lights or streams which the “people of light” descend from- Very similar to Mayan and Toltec myth . Furthermore, the 7 stars forming both Ursa Major and Minor hint at the ‘Great Bear” being a galactic homeplace for a Nordic race.

4. When the Heroic cycle is completed and the Gods emerge from inner earth, Hyperborea may be revealed once again by a cataclysmic event such as a Pole shift, CME, meteorite impact or the natural cycles of weather playing out aka “climate change”.
